Citrine is one of the most valuable and popular gemstones in the quartz group, it is the yellow to golden-orange variety of gemstone-quality quartz. The name comes from the French word citron, meaning lemon. It was used as a gem in Greece as far back as 300 B.C., because ofits color, it is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Gold Topaz.
